Daniel J. Foster has been teaching band since 2010 and has been serving as the Director of Bands at Ross N. Robinson Middle School in Kingsport, Tennessee since the fall of 2021. Mr. Foster received a Bachelors of Music from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He was a tuba squad leader in the “Pride of the Southland” Marching Band and Wind Ensemble. Prior to teaching at Robinson, Mr. Foster was the director of the High School Concert and Jazz Bands with the Knoxville Christian Youth Band and middle school band director at the Episcopal School of Knoxville.

From 2013-2021, Mr. Foster taught at Arlington Middle School in Arlington, Tennessee. Under Mr. Foster, the Arlington Middle Symphonic Band regularly earned superior ratings in grade IV, sent the most students to All-West Junior Clinic, and won Grand Championships at various Music in the Parks contests. Mr. Foster created the first Symphony Orchestras and Jazz Bands at Arlington, leading them to superior ratings as well.

Mr. Foster and his wife, Theresa, have four young children: Melody, James, John, and Gloria. Mrs. Foster is a flute teacher and former high school band director. The Fosters enjoy performing and sharing music with their students and their community. We are excited to bring our expertise, experience, and enthusiasm to the nationally- recognized band programs in Kingsport!
